UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE: Thursday Match Fixtures, Lineup and Preview

Portugal vs Czech Republic

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the starting XI with a bang, scoring his 116th and 117th international goals to help his Portugal team teach Switzerland a footballing lesson on matchday two, as the Selecao ran out 4-0 winners.

The Czech Republic is in second place following a win over Switzerland on the opening day, with four points from two games, and Silhavy said after the tie with Spain that he never expected his team would have such a tally at this juncture.

Switzerland vs Spain

Early fears of Switzerland's first-ever relegation to League B have begun to surface following their poor start to the Nations League season, as Murat Yakin's side failed to respond to their opening-day loss to the Czech Republic in Lisbon.

Spain narrowly defeated Switzerland on penalties in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals, but the hosts have only won one of their previous 23 matches with La Roja across all events, and confidence is low in Geneva right now.

Norway vs Slovenia

On Thursday night, group leaders Norway welcome last-placed Slovenia to Oslo, despite being on opposite ends of the early UEFA Nations League table.

While the Norwegians won their second consecutive League B Group 4 match by defeating their Nordic neighbors Sweden on Sunday, the visitors are still without a point following a humiliating loss in Belgrade.

Sweden vs Serbia

After a mixed bag of results in the UEFA Nations League so far this summer, both Sweden and Serbia will be looking for three points when they meet in Stockholm on Thursday.

After the Swedes succumbed to their Nordic neighbors on home soil last weekend, both teams have now been defeated by early League B Group 4 leaders Norway.

Greece vs Cyprus

On Thursday night, Greece and Cyprus will face off in a UEFA Nations League match in League C Group 2 at the Panthessaliko Stadio in Volos.

Since the competition began four years ago, the hosts have only lost one of their last six home games in the Nations League, while the visitors have failed to win on the road in seven attempts.

Kosovo vs Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland will face Kosovo in a UEFA Nations League match on Thursday night at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Prishtina.

The two nations, who will meet for the first time, are separated by 53 places in the FIFA world rankings, with Kosovo ranked 107th and Northern Ireland 54th, respectively.

Gibraltar vs Bulgaria

While Bulgaria used to compete in big tournaments, that era appears to have past, with the country now languishing in the Nations League's third division.

Being placed in a group with forward-thinking teams like Georgia and North Macedonia provided an opportunity to demonstrate that they can still find consistency on the international scene, but it also revealed that they are still on the slide.

Gibraltar, on the other hand, has failed to score in the same time period, with a winless record of 19 games in all competitions.

Nonetheless, having gained promotion from the fourth division and forging new ground for the country, there must be some perspective during this Nations League campaign.

North Macedonia vs Georgia

North Macedonia and Georgia will face off in Skopje on Thursday evening after a promising start to their UEFA Nations League campaigns.

While the hosts have four points from two games in Group C4, the visitors lead the group following two convincing victories over the same opponents.

Malta vs Estonia

Malta just missed out on promotion to League C for the 2020 UEFA Nations League campaign, owing to a sluggish start in which they only managed two points from their first three games.

Back-to-back victories were insufficient to secure first place, and Devis Mangia's team ended second with nine points, before the Knights of Malta only managed one win in ten attempts in World Cup Qualifying.

On Sunday, Thomas Haberli's team played Argentina in an International Friendly, and they were thrashed by the Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi, who scored all five goals in a hammering in Spain.
