“It definitely is [the ultimate test for a young manager], there has been a lot of work on the computer, and there is a big challenge ahead for my players and me and my staff.
“We are playing against an exceptional team. There is no denying we are going to suffer, put in a performance of nine out of 10s all over the pitch, we’re going to have to ride our luck at times to give ourselves a chance of getting a result.
“We’ve seen it many times through the years, top teams coming here and really coming away with no joy. It’s a big challenge but we are looking forward to it.”
Man City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports News:
“We’re happy to be here [back at home] after three months since our last game when we won the Premier League. First games against newly-promoted teams are always complicated.
“[Scott Parker] is a manager with a lot of experience as a player and a manager, the patterns and movements they do are really clear, and they do really well. Hopefully we can impose our game from the beginning.
“Haaland was the same as he was the previous week, the same calm. We trained well with a lot of warmth, but good.”
