Meet The Oldest Players that will Be Representing their nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 2022  FIFA world cup is just around the corner and we will see many veterans play for their country in the tournament.


The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will be featuring in a fifth world cup of their career but who are the oldest players that will represent their country. Below are six of them:

1. Atiba Hutchinson

The Betsikas goalkeeper is the oldest player that will feature at the upcoming showpiece in Qatar. He will represent Canada as they head to their first world cup in a long time and his experience will surely be helpful for a youthful side who are looking to make their mark at the tournament. At the age of 39-years, 9 months and 12 days, he has the most caps for his country and he will be looking at putting up solid performances in goal as captain of his side.

2. Pepe.

The Portuguese veteran has been around the national team for a long time and he is still a key player for them. At the age of 39-years, 8-months and 25 days, Pepe will lead out a youthful Portugal side as they gun for glory in Qatar.

3. Eiji Kawashima.

The Japanese goalkeeper has been mainstay in the national team for over a decade now and he will once again be between the sticks when they start their campaign in a few days. At the age of 39-years and 8-months, he is the third oldest player that will feature at the world cup.

4. Dani Alves.

He is one of the most surprising names in Brazil's squad for the upcoming world cup. If the Brazil coach invited him to add experience to the side, then he has it in abundance. At the age of 39-years, 6-months and 14 days, he will be the oldest Brazilian player to ever feature in a world cup.

5. Thiago Silva.

Another Brazilian makes the list and it is no surprise given his excellent form since he joined Chelsea. At the age of 38-years, 1-month and 29 days, Silva will be tasked with bringing in much needed experience alongside Dani Alves.

6. Cristiano Ronaldo.

Capping off the list is no other person

than Cristiano Ronaldo who will be hoping to lead Portugal to glory at the upcoming showpiece in Qatar. He will the playing at the fifth world cup of his career and presumably his last. At the age of 37-years, 9-months and 15 days, Ronaldo will be tasked with leading Portugal alongside Pepe.
